As you get to work with our friends in the Maasai community, you’ll experience the actual vibrant culture that underlies the community. Your translator and guide will introduce you to how the Maasai live and the history of this group in East Africa. Combine this option with a tour of the region, including hot springs in the area.
We start our epic ride early in the morning and are accompanied by our English-speaking guide. The road takes us through beautiful landscapes: African bush land where we see dried-up river beds, baobab and acacia trees and sugar cane plantations.
Once we reach the village, we advise you to be respectful of the people and not click pictures without consent. During the visit, you can mingle with the locals and chat about various topics, but how much they open up to you depends upon your own creativity and social skills.
Tour guides will act as a translator and help translate your English into Kimaasai and vice versa.
Whilst you walk through the village accompanied by your tour guide, you’ll learn more about the culture and tradition of Maasai people. Along with that, you’ll get lessons on traditional Maasai medicine and tea cultivation habits. Concluding the tour, you’ll visit some Maasai homes and get inside their huts for few minutes.
In the early afternoon, we will leave the village and continue to the Hot Springs, which are near the village of Rundugai. The Hot Springs are certainly one of the most beautiful places in Tanzania - the hot springs are surrounded by fig and palm trees and winding roots - a real hidden paradise. The crystal clear, turquoise waters invite you for a refreshing swim. Although called a hot spring, water in Hot springs is not hot, but rather refreshing since the water source is from the Kilimanjaro Mountain itself.
After enjoying a swim, we will have a lunch. Once we have relaxed fully, we will start our ride back to Moshi.
