You can find this National Park at its best in the dry season, when the plains get filled with thousands of zebra, topi and impalas. It is a great park for watching lion-buffalo interactions. Katavi’s isolation has helped it to remain untouched and largely unvisited. From Dar es Salaamor Arusha, it takes about four to five hours to reach here via private aircraft. The least expensive way to get to Katavi is by using twice-weekly scheduled flights (Monday and Thursday) which link these parks with Arusha, in northern Tanzania.
